Sunday Snippet May 26 2024

Updated: May 26

Welcome to this week's news and views from around the resort.

Calling All Residents

Your  community URGENTLY needs YOUR help. Can you spare just a couple of hours each week ?

Besides working behind the bar, we are looking for residents who are happy to undertake supply runs, stock the bar and work behind the scenes.

Full training is provided, with ongoing support from the bar manager Stephen Hubbard and your fellow resident volunteers.

For more info email Debbie at

There will be a Bar Volunteer meeting on THURSDAY 13 JUNE in the cinema at 11am

Rick Saul from Straight Talk Technology (hopefully that means he will be talking in plain English) will be here on Wednesday 19 June at 1:30pm. Rick will be talking about how to recognise scams on computers and phones and most importantly how to avoid scams altogether. Sounds like a very worthwhile presentation. Please make every effort to attend.

Karen Taylor has taken over from Carol (many thanks to Carol for all her hard work over the past 3 years). Classes for winter (June, July and August) are as follows :-

Tuesday 8:15am to 9:00am

Friday 7:30am to 8:15am and 8:15am to 9:00am

Karen can be contacted on 0422 407 645

A happy resident won $440 on Monday. How good is that. Bingo will be here again on Monday 27th May. Be there or be square.

Bingo is played on the last two Mondays of each month

Congratulations to General Knowledge winners Jukeboxers. Handicap winners were Family Affair, their first ever trophy, and Peeps On Point (with the help of some Eight Pins members) won the Wooden Spoon.

Come along on a Wednesday night - only $1 to take part in the best trivia on Bribie Island. Form your own team, or a couple of our regular teams are looking for new members. Enjoy the trivia, lucky door, a wonderful raffle and of course the chance to win $1,000 on Find The Gem.

Next Trivia MUSIC SPECIAL SONGS is on Tuesday 28th May.

Trivia aficionados take note that trivia this week will be on TUESDAY. The bar will be open on Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm, and the bar will be closed on Wednesday.

Sadly the proposed visit from QMHOA (Queensland Manufactured Home Owners Association Inc) scheduled for Tuesday 28th May has been relocated from the clubhouse to the Bribie Respite and Support Services 96-108 Arcadia Ave on Tuesday 28 May. If you need transport HOC have kindly reserved one of the GemLife buses, which will leave the clubhouse at 11:30am.

Tickets for ROBBIE WILLIAMS are still available - ONLY $35 Robbie and Kylie will be appearing on Saturday 6th July

How good is this - sweet muffins are on the menu at our very own Lakeside Cafe. Yummy Blueberry muffins and even yummier Apple and Date muffins.

Rumour has it that the muffins have zero calories, so you can eat as many as you like.

Are we living in the best over 50s resort in Queensland or what !

Here are the prize winners for May's BIG Raffle. Congrats to Kay for winning the top prize of $500. She might become a popular girl this week.

Many thanks to young Scarlett who drew all the winning tickets - she even managed to pull a winning ticket for her table. Next time bring along one of your grandkids, and they will undoubtedly provide your table with one of the prizes.

And as always, a HUGE thank you to Vikki and Cath for yet another great raffle. What would we do without these two girls.

Not forgetting Cathy Cooper and her hard working team for providing us with delicious pies and good old-fashioned mushy peas.

Do we live in the best over 50s resort in the world or what !!
