Sunday Snippet Aug 18 2024

Welcome to this week's news and views from the best over 50s resort on the planet (and in Queensland).

ROBERTSON BROTHERS Thursday

Another fabulous night of entertainment provided to all by Val, Rob, John and Dave. As ever, a huge thank you to all the people who helped on the night - our resort simply cannot function without our wonderful vollies.

Which leads me nicely to say a few words about ALL the volunteers here in the resort. We are fortunate enough to have a whole host of volunteers who do a lot of work on behalf of all the residents, and every single resident needs to appreciate their work, show them some respect and offer praise instead of criticism. Some volunteers are visible, but there are many vollies who work behind the scenes without whom we simply cannot operate. All volunteers are doing their best and strive to do the right thing. I hear that some of our HOC members have come in for some heavy handed flak recently. There have been a couple of key resignations of late - the President and the Secretary. I for one am sorry to see them both go - each has done a fantastic job. This in turn has left a lot of work to be done by the remaining members. So how about cutting them some slack ? If you believe that you can do better or believe that you know better, offer support and advice instead of honing your keyboard warrior skills. Even betterer, put your hand up and join the HOC. (Yes betterer is a word !!)

WEDNESDAY NIGHT TRIVIA

Congratulations to Aussie No 1 Hits winners Extra Pins. A near perfect score in round three meant that they would be taking home the bacon. A special mention to Hot Shots who scored a massive 57 points in round one. Question Marks won the handicap section, and Ring Ins won their very first Music Wooden Spoon.

The next trivia is on Wednesday 21 August - General Knowledge. It's about time one of the teams scored 100% in a Gen Know round - could it be this week ?? And what will be the mystery prize ??
