Sunday Snippet 25 Aug 2024

Welcome to this week's news and views from the best over 50s resort on the planet (including Bribie Island).

The Mystery of the Missing Sugar: A Sweet Case to Solve

Would you believe that handfuls of sugar sachets and sweetener sachets which are at the side of the coffee machine seem to be disappearing almost as fast as they are replenished by the hard working vollies who clean and service the coffee machine. Do we have one or two sugar thieves among us ? I reckon that 1kg of white sugar from Woolies is around $2. If the price was say $200 for 1kg then I get it. Maybe we can direct one of the CCTV cameras in the direction of the coffee machine - would that deter the sugar bandits ?

Who Holds the World Record for Making the Most Toasties?

Answer The Lakeside Cafe set a new world record of 112 toasties, beating their previous world record of 104. Congrats to the cafe workers, and well done to each and every resident for eating all those delicious toasties.

Back by popular demand this week at the cafe will be Lee's famous pikelets - Yummo !!

Congratulations to General Knowledge winners Extra Pins. Two scores of 43 meant that they were taking the money home. Their total of 86 is now the highest General Knowledge score ever (another GemLife world record !!).

Misfits won the handicap section, and Newbies secured the Wooden Spoon by just one point.

The next trivia is on Wednesday 28 August - all the songs will be ones that made it to No 1 in the UK. Find the Gem still stands at $1,000, and what will be the mystery raffle prize ? Can you afford not to be there ?

Monday Step Session

Step is now at the new time of 10:30am every Monday, just 15 minutes after Stretch and Extend with Patti. Wednesday step session continues to be at 8:30am.
